3. Spray evenly, don't soak
Hold the bottle 15 to 20 centimetres from the surface. A soaked sofa takes far longer to dry and increases the risk of mildew forming inside the cushion foam, which you will not see until it smells.
4. Let it sit briefly, then blot
Rubbing pushes the stain deeper into the fibres and can damage the weave. Blotting with a clean microfibre cloth lifts it out instead.
5. Air dry completely before use
Sitting on a damp cushion recompresses the fibres while they are still wet, which is one of the most common causes of a permanent ring or flattened patch.
